Peachtree City Civic AssociationTDK Extension Position The Peachtree City Civic Association (PTCCA) does not support the expansion of TDK Boulevard into Coweta County and views the project as a detriment to Peachtree City and its residents for the following reasons:1. All Financial Burden belongs to PTC a. Lower Sales tax revenue: Coweta County’s Land Use Plan has beenrevised to include mega site development both commercially and residentially at a much higher density. We will lose sales tax revenue, while Coweta County gains it. b. Sizable Tax increases: There are no funds available to mitigate the roads in PTC especially at the intersection of Highway 74 and 54 and along Crosstown Drive from the negative affects of the traffic from the TDK extension. We will have to pay for the impacts the increased congestion has on our current roadways, with higher taxes.2. Traffic Congestion Increases a. No Traffic Relief on Hwy 54: Traffic data summaries from the city, the mega-site developers and GRTA prove the TDK extension will not provide traffic relief for GA Hwy 54. b. More Traffic Traveling North on Hwy 74: The expansion of TDK Blvd places the burden of managing thoroughfare traffic originating in Coweta County on PTC residents. Coweta County reaps the benefits of additional taxes from new homes and businesses with no incentive to improve roadway infrastructure within their own county.3. Safety/ Quality of Life Issue a. Longer commutes mean less happy residents. b. Longer commutes mean more traffic accidents and less happy residents. c. Longer commutes mean increased air pollution. d. More time on the road means less time with our families and a lesser quality of life.Summary: The PTCCA encourages the governing bodies of the State of Georgia, Fayette County and Peachtree City to take due diligence to stop the expansion of TDK Boulevard into Coweta County. There are no positive benefits to our county nor to the residents of PTC. We acknowledge that the TDK extension has been proposed for several decades. However, the changes in the Coweta County Land use plan and the apparent lack of funds to compensate PTC for the TDK’s impact on our infrastructure and current roadways prevents us from endorsing this project. PTCCA requests that the politicians and governing bodies place what is in the best interests of its residents above outdated proposals. They no longer work together.
